tsibugan:

Mark Yudof, President of the University of California, is suggesting that UC fees be increased by 15% TWICE over the course of the following year.  This will further widen the gap for access to education and will make it damn near impossible for any middle class families to send their kids to college by creating even more debt for generations to come.  For Mark Yudof, this is nothing new.   Regarding his tenure at University of Minnesota:

Yudof often turned to tuition increases to balance the budget while serving at Minnesota. The University saw double-digit tuition increases two years during his five-year stint with the University, including a 16 percent increase in 2002.

This guy says he wants the University to be close to free, and cites his difficulties working with the legislature as one of the main problems, but honestly, as a so called advocate for the University and its students, that problem shouldn’t be passed on to the students just because you can’t seem to work with them.  It’s up to you, Mark.
As a UC alumnus and a potential UC graduate student, I am fucking pissed.
All UC students, support the walk out on September 24th!
